Wanted posters deter shoplifters

A Derbyshire Off Licence has been putting posters in it's window showing photos taken from their CCTV system of suspected thieves. The owner says that it appears to have reduced crime in the shop.

The police said "it's not something we would recommend".

Priceless.

Wake up!

Police use their voices to 'fight crime'.

An English police 'force' is planning to equip it's officers with loudhailers and an ingenious plan to reduce burglaries.

Officers will wander up and down residential streets calling 'close your doors and windows, keep burglars out'. They have also been told to enter any properties with open doors and lecture (the police call it 'giving advice') householders, even those who are found to be asleep!

So it's true then that it isn't safe not to live in a locked and bolted house. But I thought the fear of crime was worse than the reality? Are the police not fuelling a fear of burglaries?

It's also interesting that the police seem to think that shouting at the law abiding majority is now somehow part of their job.

But he rarely turns up...

Lad is due in court. Five coppers should be giving evidence but hold on, they are nowhere to be found. The CPS make a few phone calls and it turns out that the five boys and girls in blue have decided that they are not going to go to court because the defendant has a very poor record of attending court.

This is wrong on so many levels...
