Picture the scene, a fun fair with the usual mix of people from
families and couples to teenagers, all enjoying themselves when
skulking in shadows watching everyone for a potential victim we
notice a man in a police uniform with evil intent in his heart.
Luckily for us a real Police Constable who happens to be on duty at
the fair sees our man just in time and through a combination of hard
won experience and eagled eyed observation thwarts the imposter's
criminal plans before anyone harm is done.

Now picture the scene as it actually happened in the South of England
last Saturday evening.

Mike was working as a uniformed Security Officer, it's a job he has
done for many years and this particular evening he was working on his
own in a role that often requires him to have to deal with "difficult"
people. Tonight Mike was going to have to deal with someone who would
prove to be very difficult indeed.

Mike was arrested for impersonating a Police officer. Those of you who
have knowledge of such things will know that to complete the offence
the suspect has to be out to deceive. His habit of wearing his radio
on a loop near his shoulder seems to have been a step too far and his
liberty was taken from him for six hours. He described to me how he
was made to sit in his underwear and how humilated he felt being
locked up in a cell for doing his job of work.

The duty solicitor was summoned to attend the station and was quick to
let Mike know just how far he had travelled. The Police reviewed the
evidence and the solicitor warned Mike that he was looking at a 7 year
prison sentence if he did not admit his guilt and accept a Caution.

Mike wanted to see the experience end sooner rather than later and
with the words of the solicitor still ringing in his ears he did as
the police wanted and admitted the offence.

Oh I nearly forgot - Mike is 75 years old.
